Hi Andrew, thanks for the comment! I don't think there's any conspiracy, more that the incentives point in a certain direction that might explain why there hasn't been more progress on this. Will look forward to the Android release of Aurigma Up.

Hi James,

I am with Aurigma and it was interesting to me to read this article. I agree with your frustration about lack of built-in upload facilities on the wide-spread mobile platforms (especially on Apple, because Android at least supports standard HTML file input fields). This is why we have created Aurigma Up.

Just wanted to note about the Android siblings - we plan to release Aurigma Up for Android in few next months. So we will close this gap. :-)

I don't think that there is any conspiracy about this - at least our app is free for end users. For Apple, I think it is a design issue - Steve Jobs used to say that Mac/iOS users should not think in terms of files and folders, but instead they should think about photos, documents, etc. Therefore they don't have a file open dialog and will never have.

As for HTML5 - in future it will be a great platform, but unfortunately today it is not unified enough. Different features of HTML5 are supported in different ways in different browsers, and the upload functionality is not an exception. Our HTML5 uploader is also will be released in the nearest future, however unfortunately it will not solve the problem of uploads from iOS.
